ABOUT THE STUDIO
Dark Horse Press was founded in 2012 by contemorary western artist Duke Beardsley. It is the official home of all of Duke's original, hand-printed works on paper. To date DHP has produced dozens of hand-printed etchings, linoleum blockprints, monotypes and serigraphs (silk screen). Editions are kept small, usually under 50, to maintain the unique, one-of-a-kind quality of Duke's work.
In 2013 printmaker Virginia Diaz Saiki joined Duke in the studio. A talented artist in her own right, Virginia has a degree in printmaking and many years of professional printmaking experience. Today she assumes all managerial, technical and production responsibilities at Dark Horse Press in addition to all the management responsibilities of the Duke Beardsley Studio.
Dark Horse Press prints with a Takach Table-Top Combination Lithograph/Etching Press. Based in Albuquerque, NM, Takach Press Corporation has been the industry standard for top of the line etching and lithograph presses since 1975. The combination press eliminated the need for our shop to purchase both lithography and etching presses. The printer may quickly change between the upper litho assembly or the upper etching assembly, giving us the versatility needed to print planographic and relief/intaglio works.
Our press bed is 48.1/2 x 30 inches wide.
